Course Description
SI 330 Data Manipulation - Data analysis is crucial to application evaluation, as well as understanding users' information needs. When the data required are numerous we need an automated way to gather, parse, and summarize the data. In this course, you will learn to use Python and its modules to accomplish these tasks.

Responsibilities*
Attending all classes (3 hours/week) and actively supporting students? in-class work. Scheduling and holding office hours. Completing all in-class exercises. Meeting weekly with the instructional team. Assist in grading exams. Supporting students? questions online. Writing and grading problem sets. Contributing to discussions and decisions about what would help students learn. Job duties are subject to change, depending on the needs of the student and/or the input of the GSI. Holding and designing sections.
Required Qualifications*
- Graduate student in good standing.
- Must meet eligibility criteria as defined in the GEO contract;
- Applicants must be lawfully able to be employed in the United States, sponsorship to obtain such status is not available at this time
- The applicant must have one or more of the following skill sets
- Substantial Python experience
- Previous success as an SI 330 or SI 618 student, or demonstrated success in a similar professional/academic context
Desired Qualifications*
Experience or interest in teaching; strong communication and analytical skills; experience teaching programming and technology skills; significant experience with Python and basic data structures; familiarity with large-scale computing frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark are also highly desirable.

Decision Making Process
The application due date is July 26th. All applications will be submitted for review to the faculty member teaching the course. After review of applications and possible interviews, decisions will be made by the faculty member teaching the course. It is anticipated that decisions will be made by early August.
Selection Process
Previous experience with this course is preferred but not required. Relevant academic preparation for teaching the course material; extent of prior instructional/work experience; relevance to graduate training; student evaluations if applicable; availability for course time requirements.
